Chia-Lin Simmons and I recorded the first episode of On Digital Media on August 11, 2006. Since that time, so many seismic shifts have occurred in digital media, many of which we take for granted now.
The rise of Twitter and Facebook, the introduction of the Amazon Kindle and the myriad eReaders that have followed. Dumbphones, smartphones, dead phones. The iPhone, the iPod Touch, the App Store. Android, Netflix, streaming media, set top boxes. The death of print, the dip in digital and on and on and on.
Of course, we’ve also added Ken Gellman, Steve Hatch and more recently, Craig Calderto our regular panel of digital media geeks. (It wouldn’t be the same without them.)
The one thing that hasn’t changed since our first episode is our podcasting infrastructure. ;)
That time has finally come and we’re happy to move into our new home on tumblr.
Why tumblr? It’s got a great community of people and its publishing capabilities are powerful, yet simple.
We’re hosting the podcast RSS feed and media files elsewhere, but now we have the freedom to post news, photos, video and generally any kind of content we want without having to interrupt our podcast feed. (Why didn’t I do this sooner?)
I’ll post episode 100 soon. (Well, most of it, since UStream didn’t record all of it.) Stay tuned for episode 101.
If you haven’t yet subscribed to the podcast, join in the fun here.
If you get a moment, stop by our show page in the iTunes podcast directory to give us some stars and maybe write a quick review. We’d appreciate it.
Thanks for listening.
